To this day, Italy is one of the most popular travel destinations. Steeped in history that goes back to the ancient cultures of humanity, Italy holds many treasures to discover beyond the culinary. This sentiment and wanderlust for the country is nothing new. At the very least, Italy as a favoured travel destination goes back a few centuries...
In the 17th century, the phenomenon known as "The Grand Tour" brought the noblemen to Italy from all over Europe. It's roots can be traced back to a young squire named Thomas Coryat. The journal he wrote of his travels went on to influence generations of young noblemen to carry out their Grand Tour across Europe.
And the rest is, literally, history. Italy has continued to charm travellers over the centuries with its epic scenery, ancient ruins, and its delicious food of course!
